Shambhala Sadhana Practice

Basic Goodness
In a world often clouded by cynicism and distrust, Shambhala offers a simple yet profound truth: our fundamental nature is inherently good. This belief stands in contrast to the conventional view that human nature is flawed, if not sinful, and in need of correction. While many traditions emphasize overcoming selfishness and moral weakness, Shambhala teaches that goodness is not something we must attain—it is already within us, an essential part of who we are.
Recognizing Our True Nature
This perspective shifts our focus from self-improvement to self-recognition. Rather than striving to fix ourselves, we are invited to uncover the wisdom, kindness, and strength that already reside within us—sometimes obscured but never absent. This realization extends beyond the individual; it encompasses others and even society itself. Where some see civilization as morally compromised or as a system designed to suppress human nature, Shambhala envisions a world grounded in wisdom, compassion, and dignity—a society in which goodness is the foundation of all that we do.
Experiencing Basic Goodness
The Shambhala Sadhana is a powerful practice that brings this understanding to life. Through chanting and visualization, we move beyond intellectual concepts and directly experience our own inherent worth. This practice is not about escaping human imperfection but fully engaging with life—embracing the fundamental goodness that exists within us and all around us.
A Community Practice
We invite you to join us in this communal journey of discovery. Together, we explore the basic goodness within ourselves, in all sentient beings, and in society as a whole. This practice is offered on the morning of the Full Moon, and all are welcome, regardless of meditation experience.
