Mindfulness / Awareness Meditation

Learn or Deepen Your Practice

Whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your practice, our weekend retreat offers a nurturing and supportive environment for all levels of meditators. At Karmê Chöling, we welcome both newcomers and seasoned practitioners alike.

During this retreat, you'll have the opportunity to learn or refine your meditation practice. Developing this simple yet powerful technique helps sharpen the mind's awareness and bring a sense of presence and poise to everyday life.

Meditation equips us with the tools to navigate distractions, busyness, and stress with greater ease. It's a practice that fosters resilience and clarity, allowing us to approach the challenges of life and respond with confidence.

All Meditators Are Welcomed!

Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced

No matter your experience level—whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced practitioner—we welcome you to join us. The retreat begins with comprehensive instructions on basic sitting meditation and a "zen-style" walking meditation. We'll also give a brief introduction to the view and understanding behind meditation. All of this will provide you a good foundation on which to base an ongoing, consistent meditation practice at home.

Meditation Practices

And Activities in this Retreat

  • Sitting Meditation: We will work with basic sitting meditation that allows us to experience the present moment with a light and intimate touch.
  • Walking Meditation: Mindful walking practices are incorporated into the daily schedule, cultivating a sense of presence while in motion.
  • Individual Meditation Instruction: Each person receives guidance and support from an experienced Meditation Instructor. Your individual questions about your own practice can be answered during these meetings.
  • Silence and functional speech is generally observed during certain days or parts of the day
  • Talks given by Senior Teacher: The senior teacher will share his understanding and insight of the view and path of meditation
  • Study Periods and Group Discussions: Time is set aside for study and contemplation, allowing participants to explore the concepts behind mindfulness-awareness meditation. We will also engage in group discussion in order to share experience and learn from one another.
  • Nature: Karmê Chöling is beautiful in the summer. Summer is an opportunity to experience and appreciate the natural world during this "active" season.
